Long break...

Been busy with some things and took quite a long break from blogging.. now back to business :)

The last week has been really interesting, attending a yoga class and participating in a company-wide expo in my area of interest. Two of my projects were displayed for the competition and one of them won best project for one category, and the other had rave reviews and lots of interest from senior management in getting it implemented for their areas... so finally things are starting to move.

The yoga class was very interesting and exciting, probably the best 7 days of my life in terms of a lot of things - understanding myself, life, improving my attitude etc... I just need to make sure i continue with my practices long enough for it to become part of my daily activities like brushing my teeth!! Nobody says I need to do it... and this should be one such activity looking at the improvements I see in previous batches of people.

I heard a lot of interesting things, which unfortunately I cannot talk about, as it would serve as spoilers to anybody interested in the class. But if you are interested, really consider going for the week long session, I can assure that your lives will never be the same again !!

Macrovision Aims To Stop DVD Rippers

Talk about lack of logic!!

"97 Percent Effective
"We've done a lot of research on the market share of rippers," he continued. "We think we've got more data than anyone else in the world on this. And we know that RipGuard DVD is effective today against 97 percent of the rippers in use in the market."
"Since studios are losing over a billion dollars a year as a result of these rippers, we believe that we can prevent 97 percent of that revenue loss through RipGuard DVD," he added."

Have you heard a logic thats worse? If the 97% rippers do not work, then these rippers will become extinct and the other 3% will take 100% of the market share, in a theoritical world. But in reality, the 97% rippers will change their product and so we will be back to square-one.

I am not sure how effective this new recorder is, but if it's designed by the people who have this logic, i am quite skeptical....what say?

lazy weekend

things have been pretty slow the past couple of days. close to getting an offer for a new job within my old company. just a formal meeting with the director of the group is pending. had lunch yesterday at a Greek place called - Mythos, pretty good! Awesome appetizers and decent entres... and reasonably priced for lunch, pretty expensive for dinner though. And my home team lost their 6th basketball conference game..pretty dissapointing. hopefully, things will be better post season.

Art of Living

A wise person considers the past as destiny and the future as free will. - Sri Sri Ravishankar.

When you consider the past as destiny, no more questions are raised and the mind is at ease.
And when you consider the future as free will you are filled with enthusiasm and dynamism.

Is this not a wonderful way to look @ life.

Pats do it again !!

wow. these guys never cease to amaze me!! amazing consistency unlike most teams which operate in sudden burst and splurts. another dissapointing year for the eagles and falcons - both made it to the post season and unable to keep the momentum.. but looking at the game, I believe the New England Patriots deserved to win!

Garden State

Just watched Garden State on DVD. An amazing first attempt by Zach Braff - unpretentious, witty, warm and most of all weird!! Pretty fast paced, and slick direction. does not make huge claims like the rest of the movies! Between this one and the one I watched yesterday "Million Dollar Baby", I liked Garden state better! Million Dollar had some really brilliant performances (Clint, Hillary and Morgan) but the movie was just above average while Garden State blew me off !!!

What did I like about the movie.. most scenes like doing a weird thing coz ur creating history now....the spin the bottle scene on the whole and most of all the quirkiness !! My only negative about the movie was ... the ending! It seemed a made up happy ending for a feel good factor and I would have liked if Zach actually left... just my opinion. But apart from that, a brilliant movie for a debut ! Did anybody else feel the movie kind of jumped places and was not too smooth in the transition scenes or mb it was meant to be that way!

As for Million dollar baby, as I said above, it had nice characters and real good performances, but I guessed the movie's ending well ahead as I felt that was pretty much the only viable option :). Very powerful performances from both Clint and Hillary, and Morgan Freeman was at his best.... as usual!

And all that said, before I end off today's blog... none in my list until now match "Before Sunset" and "Before Sunrise".... and I don't expect any more movies like the two of them together!!!

Driving in the fast lane..

This issue is something that gets me pi...d off a lot! Driving in the left lane 'at' or well below the regular speed limit and then justifying it !! I am not talking about speed limits bcoz speed limits is not always the "accepted" speed in certain zones. Just an example, I75 in Atlanta has 6 lanes and the speed limit is 55!! but people usually drive within a range of 65-80 mph. my issue is with people driving at 65 on the left most lane and justifying that its above speed limit!

a discussion on this topic came up at work today, and a co-worker was cussing that she was driving at 75 on the left lane and somebody honked. agreed...that you're above the speed limit, but you have no idea why somebody was trying to drive faster and even if he had no reason, why should you play cop and restrict traffic? If somebody wants to risk it above speed limit, its his/her problem!!! If it was a two lane road, then there's some basis in her argument, but in six lanes, you gotta move outta da way sweetie.. And quick is relative! So if somebody tries driving past you, just let them get ahead instead of fussing.......

ever heard this one from george carlin : "everybody who tries to drive slower than you is a dumbwit, and anybody driving faster is a maniac." :). get over this someday !!! and stop policing people based on your rules (not that it has any basis either)!!

too much ranting on a friday evening... done :). peaceeeee. have a good weekend eagles n patriot fans... from a heartbroken falcon fan.

nothing new

nothing much happening .. just working a lot since its the early part of the week. Work usually slows down Thursday/Friday. Watched 'Amazing Race' and 'Whose line is it anyway' yesterday, both after a very long time! Things have changed a lot in the past year.. I used to be good at keeping track of shows and making sure I watch them! But now, I watch whatever's on without making it a part of my regular schedule. works great!!!!
